Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my home decor journey, motherhood and fashion. Hope you have a nice stay!

Choosing the Right Rug Size

Choosing the Right Rug Size

As you know I love my vintage rug from Revival Rugs that is in our living room. I decided I wanted the same vintage look in our dining room. The vintage designs are so pretty and I wanted the two rooms to seem more cohesive. What I love about Revival Rugs is that they are one of a kind and nobody else will have the same one. The vintage design creates such beautiful textures and patterns and really makes your spaces pop! Revival Rugs is awesome, with their detailed descriptions, the fact you can virtually input the rug into any space in your home to see if it works, their affordable prices and their wide selection. My dining room has a whole new vibe and I am loving it.

However, when you are picking a rug it can be hard to decide which size works best for your space. There isn’t really one size fits all for each room. The layout of the room and the furniture play a key factor, as well as the design of the rug. I decided to go ahead and do an overview of each room in your house to help you with what sizes could work for you. I am also incorporating Revival Rugs that would work for each room, in each space. If you pick a Revival Rug use the code BURNETTBUNGALOW10 for 10% off and be sure to tag @revival_rugs @burnettbungalow, and use the hashtag #RevivalRugs. We would love to see your beautiful rug in your home.

Living Room

The absolute smallest you want to go for a living room is a 5x8 -6x9. This would be for a smaller living room, and you wouldn’t want to tuck it under the sofa. You could center it with the coffee table, but make sure all four legs of the coffee table still have about four inches of rug around them.

For a more medium size living room 8x10-9x12 is recommended. If you are going with an 8x10 I would rest the front legs of your couch or chairs on your rug with the coffee table as a center piece. If you are using a 9x12 push the rug to the back and put all four legs of the couch and chairs on the rug.

Dining Room

For a large dining table pull out all of your chairs, the rug should still be underneath the chairs. Typically, a 8x10 is big enough for a dining room.

If you have a smaller dining area or a dining nook, a round rug always looks good to make the space appear larger. Make sure the chairs do not come off of the rug.

Bedroom

I would say anything from a 5x8 to 9x12 could work in a bedroom depending on the size of the room. If it is a smaller size bed a 5x8 put halfway under the bed and laid horizontally would work. If you have a queen or King bed you would need at least an 8x10 or 9x12. I would push it all the way to the back so it is beneath the entire bed. However, it could vary depending on the bed size. I like at least six inches on all sides (left, right and front) Side not: Morroccon rugs in bedrooms are my FAVORITE and Revival Rugs has the best collection of them.

Entryway

This is the rug that can vary the most depending on the size of your entryway. I will say, this is the first thing your guests see when entering, so make sure the rug packs a punch and ties in the rest of the house. If you have a small entryway like me, you can have a small vintage rug at the front door. If you have a skinny narrow entryway, a runner would work. If you have a large entryway use a 5x8.

So there you have it, a rug guide for every room and beautiful rugs from Revival Rugs to accommodate any size space. Which rug was your favorite?
