Subtle Ways To Make Your Home Eco-Friendly

Subtle Ways To Make Your Home Eco-Friendly

You know that I like to make small changes to help out the environment where I can. I also try to write a blog post about it once a month as a reminder that everyone can make a difference, by doing something small :) Caring about the environment has become fairly trendy over the last couple of decades. With more and more people thinking about the impact they have on the planet, it’s easy to see that humanity is finally getting to grips with the idea that the world can’t be treated as an unlimited resource. Of course, though, while it is becoming popular, most people don’t like the idea of making obvious efforts to make their home good for the environment, and you might want some subtle ways to handle this.

Water Flow Restriction

It’s easy to ignore water when you’re thinking about resources. The world is quite rapidly running out of drinkable water, though, and this is largely thanks to waste at home. Restricting the flow of the water in your toilets and showers can be a good way to limit the amount you’re using, as it will take a lot longer to get the same water out. Alongside saving the environment, this could also save you a lot of money, with many people being billed for water based on their usage.

Energy-Saving Appliances

Many of the world’s appliances are designed with style and features in mind, rather than producing something that will make the world a better place. Of course, though, this trend isn’t absolute, and there are several companies out there that focus their appliances on using less fuel and producing lower emissions. Energy-saving lightbulbs are a good example of this, but you can find loads of other options that offer similar benefits.

Insulation & Roofing

Using fewer resources is a challenge that many people have yet to overcome. In many cases, the best way to handle something like this will be through making changes that affect your home passively. Energy efficient roof options are a great example of this. Rather than living in a colder home, you will be able to reduce your energy spending by making your home better at keeping the heat in. This is very useful when you live in places with very large temperature fluctuations.

Grow Your Own

If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, you will have one of the best eco-friendly resources you can find in modern homes. By spending a little bit of time to grow your own food in a space like this, you will be able to massively reduce the waste packaging you and your family produces. Not only will this be good for the environment, but it could also be good for your health, and home-grown fruit and veg often packing far more nutritional value than what you’ll find on the shelves of a store.

Taking action to save the planet is becoming more and more essential in the modern world. As time goes on, it’s becoming clearer that the world isn’t going to get better without human intervention. Without efforts like this, the world could be a very different place in just a few short decades, and it will be the least fortunate in the world that has to bear the weight of these changes. Lets make a difference, no effort is too small.

Cheers!

Janelle
