The Building Battle: The Benefits of an Apartment Over a House

The Building Battle: The Benefits of an Apartment Over a House

The ongoing battle of renting vs buying may rage on, but what about the battle between living in an apartment vs living in a house? There more people are renting than ever before, and when you are deciding where to live, you've got to weigh up the pros and cons. If you are looking to make a move onto the property ladder, or you just want to get to grips with what would suit you, here are some reasons why you may want to move into an apartment instead of a house.

It Saves You Money

And some people will argue that renting an apartment is higher than a mortgage, but it's important to look at the big picture. Because it's not just about the mortgage that’s the overriding cost of a house, there is also property tax and a down payment. If you move into an apartment, this requires a smaller fee, especially if you are renting but also if you move into an apartment you'll be able to get more quality for your cash. You can find many luxury apartments near you that may cost similar to a house and will give you a taste of the high life.

It Is Easy for Maintenance

One of the best reasons to move into an apartment is that it's easier to maintain. A house is larger, which means that there are many more moving parts. Whether you are renting or buying an apartment, the fact is you got a smaller space to deal with. And this also includes the more frustrating aspects of modern life, for example, repairing a broken dishwasher. If you live in an apartment complex run by a company that provides stellar service, it is their responsibility. Likewise, you won't need to shovel snow to get out if there's a massive snowstorm overnight.

It Is Safer

When you live in an apartment block there's a lot more security in comparison to a house. An apartment complex will have security cameras, gated communities, and fire protection. Additionally, you'll be living in close proximity to others. If you live in a neighborhood in a home, there is a higher likelihood of being broken into. The fact is if you live in an apartment a few stories up, it's physically impossible for someone to climb up into your property.

There Is More Time to Do Stuff for You

Living in a house means that you've got more to maintain, as you may need to fix stuff around the home and maintain the yard. But if you live in an apartment, especially one that is closer to your office this will result in a drastic reduction in your commuting time, which gives you a lot more free time to spend your weekends doing the things you truly care about.

It Is a Great Short-Term Option

For those who are trying to rent before they move into a permanent home, this gives you the opportunity to not get “locked-in” over a long period of time. As you can see, there are a number of benefits to living in an apartment vs a house!
